Hortense

Hortense is born from a careful selection of the estate’s highest and most suitable plots. These elevated vineyards give rise to a wine of remarkable depth, tension, and character. Its structure is well-defined yet never excessive; its signature lies in a natural salinity and Mediterranean restraint that return with consistency in every vintage.

CLIMATE

2022 in Bolgheri was marked by prolonged drought and intense summer heat, pushing the vines to adapt by producing smaller, loosely clustered grapes with thick skins and vibrant acidity. In Hortense, this translates into a wine of rare composure, tense and luminous, with concentrated aromatics, fine tannins, and a distinct clarity. The dry conditions are reflected in its precise structure and the freshness carried by saline winds, lending the wine its signature Mediterranean energy.

TASTING NOTES

Hortense 2022 moves with quiet confidence, shaped by volcanic soils and marked by a rare balance of texture and vitality. Free from the typical Bolgheri profile, it opens with Mediterranean notes of sun-warmed stone, caper, bay leaf, and helichrysum. Aromas spiral between balsamic depth, wild berries, and Eastern spice, while the palate reveals a fine structure, saline tension, and subtle layers of tamarind, iodine, and herbs. The finish is long, defined by a savoury signature and lasting clarity.

More austere than expansive, Harte is our clearest and most essential reading of the inland landscape: precise, composed, and deeply rooted in place.

Clinio is our most immediate interpretation of the territory: essential, expressive, and unmistakably Mediterranean.
